ELISA, the full name of which is Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay, is a sensitive and specific bioanalytical technique. The basic principle is to combine an antigen or antibody with an enzyme to form an enzyme-labeled antigen or antibody. Through the reaction with the corresponding antibody or antigen in the sample, an antigen-antibody-enzyme complex is formed. This complex can catalyze substrate reactions, causing color changes. The degree of color change can be used to semi-quantitatively or quantitatively detect antigens or antibodies in the sample.

Indirect ELISA kits are mainly used for detecting antigens, while direct ELISA kits are mainly used for detecting antibodies.
