Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody Production

Polyclonal production is a schedule problem as much as a science problem. The immunisation course runs for weeks regardless of how the project is managed, so the value a provider adds is in antigen quality, bleed timing and the decision of when a rabbit is ready — or is not.
We accept peptides, recombinant proteins, native proteins and small molecule haptens. Where the antigen still needs to be made, peptide synthesis and E. coli expression are handled in house, which removes the hand-off delay that usually costs two to three weeks.
What you receive
- 5–10 mL antiserum per rabbit, plus 1–3 mg antigen-affinity purified IgG.
- ELISA titre curve for every bleed, not just the final serum.
- Western blot or ELISA application data on your target.
- Protocol report covering immunisation schedule, adjuvant and purification record.
How the work runs
Antigen review & design
Sequence analysis, epitope prediction and carrier selection. We advise on whether a peptide, domain or full-length protein will give the specificity you need.
Immunisation
Two to four New Zealand White rabbits, four injections with Freund's or a water-in-oil adjuvant, test bleeds from week 4.
Titre monitoring
Indirect ELISA against the immunogen at every bleed. Production bleeds begin once the plateau titre is reached, typically 1:64,000 or higher.
Purification & QC
Antigen-affinity or protein A purification, SDS-PAGE, concentration determination and endotoxin testing on request.
Application validation
The purified antibody is tested in the format you intend to use — WB, IHC, ELISA or flow — and the images ship with the reagent.
